My Therapeutic Philosophy
The choice to begin therapy is not a small one. It is a choice to commit a significant amount of time, finances, and energy. However, what therapy offers is invaluable — an experience of life that was hidden before.
The experiences we confront throughout our lives are constantly at play in shaping how we experience the present. Some of the most impactful experiences we have are in relationships. Even with time, they remain alive, informing our choices — some choices are made without thought, others obvious, and many are relentlessly difficult. Your past relationships have brought you to this point, and the relationship that we build — in therapy — will be a critical element of our work.
This is a time to see how you organize both your internal and external world; a place to explore the distance you might create; a place to shift how you relate. Therapy is a place to look inward, find truth, and choose: who might you be?
While this work centers around you as an individual, it is crucial to acknowledge that none of us exist in isolation from the systems we interact with daily. I am constantly adapting my practice by understanding and challenging the oppressive societal and cultural systems that impact the people I see.
